Comment nettoyer son bonnet sans l’abimer ?

How to clean your beanie without damaging it?

Caring for a crocheted beanie — especially one embellished with sequins — calls for gentleness, not time. Here is a safe method to keep its shape, shine, and softness.

Before washing

  • Gently shake the beanie and lightly brush it with your hand to remove dust and lint.
  • Spot clean if needed: cold water + a small amount of wool detergent, dab gently, do not rub (focus on areas marked by makeup).

Hand wash only

Fill a sink or basin with cold water and add a few drops of wool detergent. Turn the beanie inside out, submerge it and press gently — do not leave it to soak. Rinse in cold water until the suds are gone. Never wring: press it between two towels to remove excess water.

Drying

Lay flat to dry on a clean towel, away from direct heat and sunlight. Reshape the crown and brim with your fingers, then let it dry completely before wearing it again.

And the sequins?

  • Handle without pulling, especially when wet. If a thread loosens, tuck the loop back in with a wool needle (no scissors!).
  • Zero heat: no iron, no hairdryer, no radiator, no tumble dryer. No fabric softener.

Between washes

Air it out for 24 hours, then store it flat in your Mira pouch. When traveling, place the beanie inside out in a pouch to protect the sequins and beads.
